Festival Fashion; Part One - Boohoo.com

Today's festival post is all about fashion - I have picked out a couple of pieces from www.boohoo.com that I think would go down great at any festival. I tried to choose items that I thought a lot of people would like the look of or at least items that you could take into consideration and choose your own style of. I chose items I liked and personally would wear every item if I wear going to a festival this year!

Jenny Racer Back Jersey Maxi Dress
£10.00, available in a variety of different colours
This maxi dress is ideal for a festival, as long as it's a lovely sunny day! It's long enough to keep the majority of your body covered - perfect for the last day or so when your legs are starting to get a bit fuzzy (gross, I know). The length doesn't quite reach the floor either which means, if it has been raining and the camp site is a little muddy, you won't be dragging your dress in it and getting unnecessarily dirty! The straps on this dress also ensure there won't be any mishaps involving boobs when jumping around to your favourite band! Although based on my experience at Leeds, a bit of exposure gets you noticed by the band on the big screen ;-)

Anna Tassle Hem Embroidered Yoke Kaftan
£25.00, Available in Indigo and Ivory
I chose this dress simply because it's cute! I love the fringe detail on the bottom and the cowboys and indians style of the whole piece. I think this would be perfect come rain or shine and could be paired with leggings and obligatory festival wellies.

Magdaline Ditsy Ruffle Neck Playsuit
£18.00
This playsuit gives off a boho kind of vibe for me and teamed with a pair of leggings/wellies I think it'd be perfect for any festival. I would also wear the crochet cardigan mentioned further down in the post with this, or just a simple cardigan.

Sophia Colour Block Denim Hotpants
£15.00, Available in Cobalt, Green, Pink, Red
I wore denim hotpants for the majority of Leeds festival last year over the top of some leggings (two pairs to be precise). Choosing to take hotpants and a variety of tops meant there was less to pack and carry to our campsite which proved very helpful! I also kept stylish and warm at the same time. The main advantage of the hotpants and leggings trick is that if you choose the right top, if you dress for warm and the weather changes, you won't get too hot whilst watching bands. This pair is perfect for this summer season with the whole colour block trend.

Cassia 70's Crochet Waistcoat
£22.00
This waistcoat is not only cute but very in trend at the moment. It would look perfect teamed with the aforementioned playsuit and also the maxi dress. It won't add much to your warmth but you'll look good so who cares (right?).

Lottie Mickey Mouse Character Print Tee
£6.00, Available in Black & White
As shown in the picture, this t-shirt looks great paired with a colourful pair of shorts, and would go brilliantly with the pink denim hotpants. It's fun and quirky and a simple outfit to achieve.

Miley Rubber Wellies with Ankle Strap
£10.00
I chose a simple pair of black wellies for my festival outfits as I feel that, although funky patterned wellies are staple to any festival wardrobe, at the end of they day then only end up covered in mud! If I felt like I wanted to make these a bit more interesting I'd team them with some brightly coloured socks or legwarmers. Not only would this add to the aesthetics of your outfit but would also provide you with extra warmth.

Roxy Tassle Across Body Draw String Bag
£18.00
An across the body bag is a must have for any festival. It will keep any thing you need to carry about with you - money, phone, ID etc - safe from any thieves that may be lurking around. This bag, with the fringe detail, is also very on trend this season.

That is all I chose from Boohoo for this post! I hope you liked at least one of the items I picked out, I'm not the most fashionable of people but I do try!

Festival Season

Britain is now well and truly into festival season; having had both the Isle of Wight festival and Download within the last few weeks and plenty more to come between now and September.

To coincide with this I have decided to spend the next week posting about festival essentials - both fashion and beauty.

Look out for the first post tomorrow featuring fashion from boohoo.com!

Superdrug Haul

Working close to the city centre certainly has it's advantages; plenty of lunch options, the ability to go on emergency shopping trips and easy access to transport to name but a few. However, the down side to this is that if I am ever having a bad day, a 'pick-me-up' trip to the shops on the way home often occurs.

This happened today. My day in the office was so super, super stressful that I just HAD to pop into the shopping centre on the way home. There was no other option! But, on the plus side, I definitely do not regret it for a change. I made some really wise, non-impulse (well, sort of) purchases that I'm actually mega pleased with! And as I keep repeating to myself "at least I haven't wasted the money on alcohol" (as I was highly considering going out on the town tonight!).

This picture does no justice whatsoever to the actual size of the bag.
Firstly, the essentials.

Superdrug own brand 6-in-1 Mouthwash - £1.99
Sure for Men Quantum Anti-perspirant - £0.86
My boyfriend has very recently been converted to the world of roll on deodorant. After staining 90% of his t-shirts/shirts/polo shirts under the arm by using too much spray-on deodorant, I managed to convince him to try out a roll on and it seems - *touch wood* - to not have such an adverse effect on his clothes. At least until he runs out and ends up using spray ones again! Silly boy. I'm going to try and convince him to a mini review of it to put up on here, not the sort of thing you see every day on a primarily female blog but why not?

L'Oréal Elvive Colour Protect Shampoo & Conditioner (400ml) - £1.79 each (Currently on offer!)
Superdrug Expertise Salt Spray - £2.49
Schwarzkopf Live Salon Style (Intense Red 5-29) - £4.29
I've actually only just recently dyed  my hair, I used a mahogany colour from the same brand as I wanted a brown/red colour, but with more than a hint of red. Needless to say, it didn't work as well as I wanted it to. So I bought this "intense red" in the hopes that it will make my hair just that smidgen (yes, that is a technical term) bit more red. I feel I may be sending the boyfriend out to Superdrug again in the morning for a dark brown though!
The shampoo and conditioner were purchased alongside the dye in an attempt to protect my hair and give it that healthy kick it needs after dying.

A few impulse purchases:

Clean & Clear Morning Energy Daily Facial Wash (Oil-free) - £2.49
Superdrug Mud Therapy Raspberry Exfoliating Mask - £2.59
Dove Summer Glow (Normal to Dark) - £3.00
Now, in a few weeks I may be back on here complaining about having a 'Geordie Shore' orange glow about me, but hopefully not! I've been using the other Dove Summer Glow recently but I bought the one for fair skin which I clearly was mistaken about and actually do not have, and so it hasn't really made any difference to my tan (or lack thereof) whatsoever.

The face wash I have purchased due to my usual Body Shop Seaweed one running out. It's about £8 or £9 for a bottle, which although it works really well on my skin, I do feel is a little expensive for me. I'm hoping that this cleanser will work well and not irritate my skin in any way as I'm desperate for an inexpensive holy grail face wash. The face mask should also help sort my face out a little too - and the boyfriends, not that he knows this yet.

My last purchase was from a make up brand I have never really seen much of before. They are called Make Up Academy and have a wide range of products available for only a few pounds. I believe when they first came out everything was a pound. They've just released a new professional line of products that although more expensive are still actually really affordable. First impressions have been really good and I hope to get a more detailed overview of the products on here within the next few days. Or as soon as my photography skills improve a little, whichever comes first.

MUA Professional Primer (27ml) - £4.00
MUA Professional Matte Foundation (30ml) - £4.00

MUA Professional  Extreme Curl Mascara (7ml) - £2.00
MUA Professional Dusk til Dawn Palette - £4.00
I completely fell in love with the mascara as soon as I saw it. Obviously, the point of this packaging was to attract the magpie part inside every beauty obsessed girl.

And last but not least, I finally got hold of a Beautycard! 318 points already!

I've also just realised I completely forgot to purchase what I intended to get from Superdrug in the first place! D'oh!

Any recommendations for the inevitable trip back to pick up the new Sleek palette?

A New Project

As I haven't really done enough to talk about in this week's 'midweek ramble' post - apart from X factor auditions, which I will post about as soon as I get the pictures I took from my boyfriend and his sisters phones. I decided instead to use this post to introduce a new project I intend to start working on some time in the next two weeks.

This is a picture of my nail polish collection:

This was actually taken on the 22nd April and I'm almost certain I bought some new bottles of polish since then. I think there were 80-something bottles in this picture (?!).

Note: the "almost certain" in that sentence is the entire reason I'm starting this project!

I have decided that I'm going to start doing a new manicure every Sunday, in an attempt to use every single nail polish I own at least once. This can be any type of manicure, from a single colour on every nail to something a bit more fancy and artistic.

This project won't be started until after I have finished doing a review on some Sally Hansen Salon Effects polish strips as these are said to last for around 10 days and if they work as I hope, I really don't want to have to take them off!

Any bets on how long it'll take me to use them all?

A Swift Round Of Pub Golf

Last night a few friends and I hit the city centre for a birthday night out. Not wanting to have a sensible birthday, my friend chose to partake in a game of pub golf. For anyone who has never heard of this before, this involves dressing up like a golfer, carrying children's golf clubs round and attempting to drink various drinks under par. It was an interesting and extremely fun night out - although the majority of the evening is a slight blur! I ache all over today and spent far too much money but I would definitely do it again, we certainly celebrated my friend's birthday in style!

Here are a few pictures for your viewing pleasure - WARNING: I look incredibly drunk and not pretty in the slightest.

The boyfriend and I

Don't I look happy?

I believe this followed everyone hitting me with their golf clubs. What a state.

We Need To Talk About... My Week

One thing I have decided to start doing on this new blog is a midweek ramble type post. Many of the blogs that I am subscribed to incorporate something like this into their weekly postings and so I thought it would be a good place to start getting myself into writing. I haven't quite figured out the standard format so don't expect the same things to be included every week!

A topic that will definitely occur every week is a brief summary of what I have been up to in the past week - if I can actually remember what I have been doing that is! Because right now, I'm struggling! Mostly I have just been working my little socks off in the office whilst trying to think up excuses why I simply CANNOT go to the gym that night.

Last Friday my boyfriend hosted a BBQ for a few of his friends and I. Most of the night is one big blur of Rosé wine but I vaguely recall taking this picture of my rabbit who was allowed in her run for a short while:

She is a hungry little girl and eats so much grass when she's in the run that she has managed to stain her fur green! (FYI, she is called Doctor Who - I'm not a geek, I swear - is a lion head rabbit and is only a few months old)

EDIT: my boyfriend would also like me to mention that we also have another beautiful rabbit called Chicken (don't ask)

Also in the past week I have really been enjoying this tumblr: Temptalia
Christine, the person behind the blog Temptalia (which you can find here: http://www.temptalia.com/), also runs a tumblr, posting pictures of all sorts of beauty related things. I have been gazing in awe at the China Glaze crackle metal nail polishes that she has been swatching and decided that I must have at least one in my life asap.

Well, seeing as I don't have a format for this feature right now I shall leave it at that! Until next time!

Ready, Set, Go!

So, for about the millionth time*, I have restarted my blog! I am forever unhappy with various things - such as the ease of use of the host website, ease of posting etc - and after many experiments with other hosts, I have come back to blogger. This time I'm back for good.

*(note: this may be a slight exaggeration)
