Is it worth it?

My post today comes hand in hand with a question I'm intrigued to know the answer to -

What do you deem too much to pay for a nail varnish?

Normally when I buy nail varnish, they come at a price between £1 and £4. I don't think I have ever paid anything more than that, except for when I bought an OPI limited edition colour.

Yesterday, whilst browsing Fenwicks in York, I came across Peridot by Chanel.

I was instantly drawn to the unusual shade, something I've never really seen before. I fell in love. Then I saw the price tag.

I know that prices can sometimes be justified if it's a high end brand but what about the type of product you're looking at? Is £17.50 just too much for a nail polish?

What do you guys think?
Are there any good dupes for this polish out there to save my bank from going into a state of shock?

NOTD: Blues

I have a huge (to me at least) collection of nail polishes and decided recently it was about time I started to use them all at least once.

This week for my manicure I couldn't decide which new one to wear so I just chose a variety of random blues. I was initially thinking of doing a gradient manicure but at the last minute decided to go for a random pattern instead.

From left to right:
Beauty UK - Jade (No. 52)
Barry M - Cobalt Blue (291)
17 Lasting Fix - SeaBreeze
Missguided - Misstique
Collection 2000 - Button Moon (33)

Avon Nail Experts Liquid Freeze Spray
E.L.F. Clear Polish
Barry M Crackle in Blue (315)

The finished look! I quite like it! I chose to only do the crackle on the ring finger as a sort of accent nail. Do excuse the poor picture and the state of my fingers! I am a nervous biter and was rushing to take pictures before I went to work :(

Magazine Freebies

Just thought I'd write a quick post on this months cosmopolitan magazine. It has Rihanna on the cover (awesome woman!) and comes with a free Missguided nail polish.

My first HDR picture!
There are three colours to choose from - a gorgeous blue, a red and a pink (possibly, I can't remember!)

I chose to get the blue polish as it's quite a unique colour and not one I seem to have in my collection.

In this picture it looks sort of like a slightly darker Tiffany blue due to the flash. I think it's really cool that they decided not to play it so safe with their colour choices too, usually you find that magazines only give away neutral-ish colours.

I will put swatches and a review up sometime within the next week!

A New Project

As I haven't really done enough to talk about in this week's 'midweek ramble' post - apart from X factor auditions, which I will post about as soon as I get the pictures I took from my boyfriend and his sisters phones. I decided instead to use this post to introduce a new project I intend to start working on some time in the next two weeks.

This is a picture of my nail polish collection:

This was actually taken on the 22nd April and I'm almost certain I bought some new bottles of polish since then. I think there were 80-something bottles in this picture (?!).

Note: the "almost certain" in that sentence is the entire reason I'm starting this project!

I have decided that I'm going to start doing a new manicure every Sunday, in an attempt to use every single nail polish I own at least once. This can be any type of manicure, from a single colour on every nail to something a bit more fancy and artistic.

This project won't be started until after I have finished doing a review on some Sally Hansen Salon Effects polish strips as these are said to last for around 10 days and if they work as I hope, I really don't want to have to take them off!

Any bets on how long it'll take me to use them all?
