OOTN & FOTN: Goodbye My Friend!

This outfit and face of the night I believe is my first ever - wahoo! So go easy on me ;-) I'm not as stylish as others nor am I the best at make up but I try. 

I actually wore this look last Saturday night but I completely forgot I took photos of it before I went out! It was two of my friends birthdays and one of them also moved to Scotland the day after so it was kind of his leaving celebrations as well. It was a fun night and I'm glad I got a little bit of fun before revision started (not that that is going well - argh). 

This outfit was actually put together by my friend Lucy who featured the items in a blog post on lonely wardrobe. We literally went shopping together the day after she posted about it as I HAD to have it. Unfortunately we had to get a different top though as the one she featured wasn't available in our Dorothy Perkins :-(

You can't really see it on properly so here is a  (sort of) better picture:

Definitely get the right size top for you. In the store I thought the top looked a little on the small size so sized up but when  I got it home it was huge! I spent all night pulling it up so you couldn't see my boobs - not that that really helped as it is sheer. 

For the skirt I would say try it on but probably size up also. If you're anything like me and Kim Kardashian, with voluptuous bottom halves, you'll find that although it fits at the waist it won't across your legs. And the way it falls at the front means you risk your vajayjay being exposed!

 I went for blue and gold with the make up. You can't really tell because of my glasses but when my eyes are open it looks like a really nice hint of blue in the crease/corner. I have no  idea where my make up is right now as I'm in the process of moving house but to the best of my knowledge this is what I used:

I Love Halloween!

Halloween is possibly one of my favourite times of year! 

Not only because my birthday is on October 30th ;-) 

I love getting dressed up and being creative with make up looks as well as finally having reason to snuggle up in front of the fire watching nightmare before Christmas :-) 

This year, I'm dressing as a zombie and have found a few little bits and pieces of inspiration that I thought I'd share with you today, seeing as I have neglected the blog a little!

This tutorial by Sayanythingbr00ke on youtube is a really simple and easy zombie look to achieve and as she says - it doesn't even have to be followed to the letter, the crappier the better! After all, zombies are gross!

Which is a bit more difficult but I also think it looks awesome! If I wasn't just going out to get drunk in a club, I would probably do this look over Brooke's.

Review: Sleek Oh So Special Palette

A couple of days ago I decided it was about time to treat myself to a new Sleek palette. I had a couple in mind that I wanted, however, the biggest Superdrug (and only one that stocks Sleek) in my city barely had any in stock. And those they did have in stock were mostly all damaged :-/ In the end I went with this palette - one of the only ones in perfect condition. 

Luckily for me this was actually one that I quite fancied getting :) 

I absolutely love the design on the box it came in, wish they did this actually ON the palette itself! 

This palette is filled with quite neutral colours although I think the variety of pinks and browns are better than what has become the norm of neutral palettes. I much prefer to have the option of colour - even if it is still a soft, pastel colour as opposed to something brighter.

Here are some swatches, all taken with my iPhone 4 in natural lighting.

From bottom to top:

• Bow - a matte, cream colour that can be used as a highlight shade.
• Organza - a shimmery, light/medium pink
• Ribbon - a matte, barbie pink colour. This comes out quite sheer upon first application but can be built up into a nice colour with as little as two swipes from the pan. 
• Gift Basket - a shimmery, light/medium brown colour
• Glitz - a shimmery, metallic blue almost grey colour
• Celebrate - a dark, shimmery brown. This is one of my favourite colours in the palette. 

From this row I think I would use Bow on the inner corner to brighten up the eye area then Organza as the lid shade and one of the browns on the outer corner and blended into the crease. Me being me, I would probably go for Celebrate and blend it out quite a lot in order to tone it down within the crease. Going back over the outer corner with a little bit more would add a slight smoke to the eye. 

This picture above is my quite poor attempt to show how gorgeous the blue is. I wouldn't go as far as calling this a duo-chrome type shade but in different lights you definitely pick up slightly different colours/shades of blue/grey. 

From bottom to top:

• Pamper - A matte, light pink. I feel this is a shade that will need building up should you wish to use it on the lid or anywhere else. I personally would use this as an inner corner highlight. 
• Gateau - Another light pink but this time a shimmer. Nothing to say except that it's gorgeous.
• The Mail - A light, matte brown. This would be a perfect lid shade for achieving a "natural" day time look.
• Boxed - A medium, matte brown.  
• Wrapped Up - A dark, matte brown. 
• Noir - A uniform shade within any palette - the classic matte black shade. 

 The bottom row contains the majority of matte shades that are all ideal accompaniments to any make up look. Unlike the top row, I don't think I could create an eye look purely from the bottom row. Especially as I don't feel I could wear a purely matte look. I would perhaps pair Gateau and either the medium or dark brown together but it looks 

This is my second poor attempt at capturing the different shades of Gateau. Much like the blue, it appears to be different colours in different lighting, giving multiple dimensions to a make up look.

At the moment I don't feel I could pick any fault with this palette until I have given it a bit of a longer trial run and shall probably do a "review: take two" to update on how it fairs. I find sleek to be a very consistent cosmetics brand, particularly with it's line of palettes, something which is a huge selling point to me. I'm very interested in purchasing the curacao palette next to test out the gorgeous looking red eyeshadow - if anybody has a review of this to leave a link to in the comments I would be very interested to see!

Library Wishlist

This week I joined the library. I have always been an avid reader but the town I grew up in didn't really have a decent library. Unless you wanted fiction, there wasn't much to borrow and I tired quickly of reading trashy chick-lit. I do already have a large pile of books at home to read so I thought to start with, I'd borrow some non-fiction books. Here are a couple of titles I intend to borrow within the next month or so.

Jemma Kidd Make-Up Masterclass: Beauty Bible of Professional Techniques and Wearable Looks

I'd love to read this simply because I've never really looked at a make-up book before and I think it could be quite interesting to see what techniques I can pick up from it.

Curves: Permanent Results Without Permanent Dieting

This looks like a really old 80's diet book but I think it could be quite interesting. I'm really keen to lose a stone by the time I hopefully go to Florence with the other half in September. But I don't want to lose my shape ( I struggle to have boobs as it is LOL). Could this be the answer?

Any other suggestions fiction/non-fiction for me?
