My Jubilee Weekend

This post is long overdue. Especially taking into consideration how long has passed since the Jubilee weekend! It feels like only yesterday to me but it has in fact been almost 3 weeks.

I actually think this weekend was one of the best of my entire life.

My boyfriend (Jim) and I were lucky enough to win tickets to the Jubilee Concert that took place in front of Buckingham Palace and organised by Gary Barlow. We never win anything so I was ecstatic to win these tickets!

Included with the tickets was an invitation to the Jubilee Picnic in Buckingham Palace Gardens. I actually almost died when Jim told me we'd won these. I think there were only a thousand given out to people at random so our luck was definitely in that day!

I took loads of pictures but only chose a select few to share with you on here :) A lot of the ones I took at the concert were a bit pants - we were sat quite high up and so I had to really zoom in to get a close up picture of the celebs performing.

Chilling in Hyde Park before the concert. Jim didn't really appreciate the mask I bought.

Walking through the centre of Buckingham Palace! This was actually one of my favourite moments of the day. It was so surreal walking through the palace (where you couldn't take pictures) where so many amazing people have walked before.

The picnic everyone was given was AMAZING. Everyone got their own individual picnic hamper (so cute!) and inside was a 5 course meal for one designed by Heston Blumenthal in collaboration with Waitrose. I didn't eat three of the items given (The salmon dish, Jubilee chicken or the cold soup) as it was foods I don't like. But the cakes, bread and cheese and crackers that I did eat were lovely.

There I am with the picnic hamper! Not the best picture haha

That's Jim in his rain poncho. Unfortunately it did rain but this was anticipated by the hamper designers and everyone was given a free rain poncho to wear. I was really grateful for this as I only had a thin rain jacket on and it got quite cold later in the day.

Walking back out through the courtyard to the concert!

The next few pictures of the concert are quite poor quality ~ iPhone cameras do not perform that well in low lighting!

When Madness were performing (on the roof!) they projected different houses and a block of flats on the front of Buckingham Palace. I don't think anybody really paid any attention to Madness as we were all fascinated by the projections!

This rubbish picture is of all the artists on the stage as well as select members of the Royal Family and the Queens Guards at the front. It was taken during Prince Charles' speech so the Queen is actually on stage somewhere. I was super emotional at this point in the day and actually ended up crying all the way through his speech and the fireworks that followed! Never imagined myself as being much of a Royalist so I surprised myself with my emotions!

You can't really tell in the picture above but there was a huge beam of light shining into the sky at this point ~ after the Queen lit the last jubilee beacon.

It was such an anti-climax to return home after the concert! I think I was upset about being back in Hull all week! But I will definitely remember that day forever and I'm so glad Jim and I got the opportunity to go.

What did you guys get up to on Jubilee Weekend (if you can even remember!)?
I hope you all took advantage of the extra bank holiday!

Haul: Primark!

Yes, this is yet another Primark haul. But as I explained to my boyfriend whilst dragging him round today... you have to go there so often because their stock turnaround is so quick! If I didn't grab the stuff I liked straight away then it would just go. Seize the day! Ahem..

The boyf and I are going on holiday at the end of August so thought I would start early on getting cute bikinis :-) There wasn't much variation in the ones on offer in Primark. They were all really bright and I don't think they would suit my pale complexion, so I went for this baby blue offering with the hopes that the ruffles will enhance my boobs a bit!
Top - £5
Bottoms - £3
The belt on this dress has made it really small at the top so it looks a bit odd but I promise it is nice in reality. It has a dipped hem and I love the tropical pattern on it.
£17
I ADORE this dress! You can't really tell but it has a huge bow on the neckline which is a cute addition to the dress. I love the print and they also do a couple of tops with the same print on it.
£10
I bought this blazer for work as I felt now I'm full time I should probably spruce my work outfits up a little. Just plain, black and simple the way a blazer should be. I've never had one before and I'm not entirely certain I like it that much but needs must.
£13
This is actually from the men's section but I just had to have it. I love moustaches!
£2
Another skater-ish style dress to add to my ever increasing collection of dresses. I love the way it has a different patterned panels going down the sides of the dress. They're similar colours so they blend in well but are a nice addition. I'm hoping they will make me look that little bit more fabulous when I wear it.
£13
This is actually a man's jumper but I love Mr Potato Head! It was reduced to a fiver and the only one left in my size - fate? I think so.
£5
Probably the most boring purchase I made! A simple, black purse. I hated the way my old one opened and the cards in certain slots slipped right into the depths of the folds - it was generally awful.
£5
A random purchase of a pair of socks. I'm not entirely sure what made me want to purchase these but I'm guessing it was the moustaches :)
£1.50
The second of my hauls for you! I have yet another one to come as I have been a *little* naughty with my spending recently. I hope you enjoy looking at what I've been buying, I certainly enjoy seeing what other people have bought :-)

Mini Haul: H&M

It has been a while since I've had a proper look around H&M. I bought a skirt a couple of weeks ago but never really had a good look round. A couple of years ago I used to buy ALL my stuff from H&M; having gotten bored of Primarni, I went on the hunt for a reasonably priced store to buy both basics and pretty must-haves. I didn't end up buying much today as I wasn't overly impressed but I did pick up three things I fell in love with.

£7.99
Fell in love with this basic vest top. The picture does it no justice whatsoever! It is bright, cheerful and summery all in one. A neon yellowy/green kind of colour that is EVERYWHERE at the moment. The back is sheer and the front is a thin jersey material. Cannot wait to get this on with a nice pair of denim shorts!

£6.99
Again, a terrible picture! I'm not the greatest photographer in the world. This is actually a pale mint green as opposed to the white that it looks. Hard to believe considering how many items of clothing I own but I actually do not own a plain t-shirt! How this is possible I do not know.

£7.99
Zebra print vest top! I love this print. I've seen zebra print clothes (all over Primark at the moment may I add!) but never zebras ON zebra print. This is very 'me' ~ whatever that means.

So that was a very small but, in my humble opinion, perfectly formed haul for you :-) I have another three to come so stick around!

Have you bought anything nice lately? Leave your links below and I'll be sure to check them out :-)!
